HLTAID004 - Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting

Contents

CPR – completed every year

  • Locate and identify workplace policies and procedures

  • Conduct a hazard assessment

  • Demonstrate safe manual handling techniques

  • Assess Airway, breathing and circulation

  • Perform CPR

  • Use an automated external defibrillator (AED)

  • Conduct a verbal secondary survey

  • Completion of incident, injury, trauma and illness record

  • Complete a verbal report of incident

 

Asthma

  • Asthma in the workplace

  • Asthma in Sport Asthma 

  • Asthma in child care

  • Asthma in schools

  • Occupational asthma

 

Anaphylaxis Awareness

  • Anaphylaxis Medications

  • Anaphylaxis Delivery Devices

  • Anaphylaxis First Aid

  

  • Manage allergic reactions

  • Manage anaphylaxis

  • Manage respiratory distress/asthma

  • Management of cardiac arrest

  • Control severe bleeding

  • Manage burns

  • Management of choking and airway obstruction

  • Management of poisoning

  • Management of shocked patient

  • Management of fractures, sprains and strains

  • Management of head injuries

 

Cost

$200.00

Participants younger than 14 years may attend the course but will  not be eligible to receive an accredited Statement of Attainment.

It is recommended that participants have literacy and numeracy competencies equivalent to National Reporting System (NRS) Level 2:

Please note that there is a requirement to complete practical CPR component.  on the floor.  We can provide you with assistance to get up and down but you must be able to complete this component of the assessment to be marked as competent overall.  Please advise trainer if you need special assistance .

Mode of delivery is onsite learning with written and practical assessments.

 

A Pre Work component is required electronically or by completing the printed Pre Work book.  This component is to ensure that there is a basic understanding of First Aid Principals before attending the course.  There is no pass rate for attendance for this component as all questions in the Pre Work book will be reviewed in the course and you will be given the opportunity to review your answers and correct them after the course is complete.
